Edward took part in his first dressage competition aged thirteen on a Dales pony and gradually grew to love the sport. Edward then spent a summer working for international rider, Zoe Colgate, and realised that dressage was a passion that he wanted to pursue professionally. In 2003, Edward secured a job in Germany with dressage greats Georg and Monica Theodorescu.
Whilst working for the Theodorescus, Edward was selected by Monica to be her competition groom and was entrusted with her top horses on a daily basis, as well as traveling to many international competitions with her. During his time in Germany, Edward backed many of the young horses on the yard, as well as learning the German techniques of lungeing and training from green to advanced level horses.
Since his return to England in the summer of 2005, Edward has been training with one of Britain's most reputable trainers and riders, Nicky Barrett.
Sven (Korenbloem Santiago), has countless top placings under his belt through the affiliated dressage levels, including 3rd in the Four Year Old Championships in 2003, and 7th at the National Winter Dressage Championships in 2008. Whilst working in Germany, Edward was told by trainer Georg that "if you want to make it in Dressage, never sell that horse!" Sven and Edward are currently competing at Grand Prix level and are a hopeful prospect for the future.
Edward is now a registered British Dressage trainer and chief dressage instructor for the Old Berkshire Hunt Pony Club. His clients range from eight year olds just starting to understand the importance of dressage, through to adults working (and winning!) at more advanced levels.
